Windows 10: WIndows 10 recognizes Lifecam HD-3000 but cannot turn it on

I have just tried a newly-purchased Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000, connecting it in different USB sockets in my new Windows 10 computer. The camera is seen in Device Manager and is reported to have the best driver already loaded when I click on 'update driver'. Although the blue light comes on briefly I have not found any way to turn the camera on. I need this camera to perform lecture demonstrations in science. I do not need it for Skype or any social media: I just want it to work, displaying an image on-screen that I can show via a beamer or second monitor.

Similar problems here with my "LifeCam HD-3000" no longer working in W10.

I suggest that Microsoft change the marketing ...

"DeathCam HD-3000" seems more appropriate

- I was able to use the camera app before I installed the Lifecam HD-3000 webcam.

- It was installed on January 29, 2017.

- I can use Lifecam HD-3000 with Skype, Viber, and Messenger with no problem.

- It just doesn't work on my computer's Camera app.

- I didn't make any changes to my computer's configuration prior to this issue.

- I followed the steps you provided below and nothing changed. I still cannot use it on my Camera app.

- Model: Alienware Aurora R5

- Edition: Windows 10 Home

- Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz

- Installed RAM: 16.0 GB

- System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
