  1. Windows 10 recognizes my 5.1 speaker system as Stereo.

Hey all. The title kind of sums it up. I'm using an optical cable for audio and when I go into Supported Formats for audio and test DTS/Dolby, sound plays from each speaker as it's intended to. But when I try to play a game or listen to music, I'm only getting Stereo instead of 5.1! Even the Realtek Audio Manager only gives me the option for 2-channel. What can I do?

    :)

  2. Bose companion 5 speaker system

My Bose companion 5 speaker system worked great on windows 10 until the latest windows 10 update. After the "windows 10 creators update" yesterday, my computer does not recognize my speakers. It gives me an error message saying "USB device not recognized"
What can I do to be able to use my speakers again after this windows 10 update? I payed a lot of money for those speakers.

  3. [SOLVED] Windows 10 Realtek 'Speaker Fill' not working

    Found a solution.

#1: Close Nehimic (setup does not auto-close it) and uninstall if it is installed.

#2: Uninstall Realtek drivers. Restart computer when prompted. When your computer comes back up, Realtek will be running off of Microsoft's generic HD Audio driver.

#3: Follow the directions here to prohibit Windows Update from reinstalling the Realtek driver.

#4: Open "Sounds" then "Playback Devices," select the device from the list and click on "Configure." Follow the prompts.

#5: Right click on the device and select "Properties," then "Enhancements," then check "Speaker Fill" and apply. If you do not see "Speaker Fill," repeat step #4 and make sure to pick a choice that has more than two speakers. "Apply" the changes.

#6: Start playing audio. You will have to restart the program if it was running in order for the change to take effect. Your stereo music should now be playing as Stereo Surround! *Big Grin Windows 10 recognizes my 5.1 speaker system as Stereo. :D

permanently set sound in default speaker to stereo in Windows 10

    Hello, all.

The speakers I have with my Windows 10 computer sound tinny and strange to me when I play music from any program or site.

I can switch the default speaker from Quadrophonic to Stereo this way:

    1. right-click speaker icon

    2. click on playback devices

    3. right-click on speaker/headphones (checked as the default speaker)

    4. click on configure speaker

    5. click on stereo

    6. click next twice, finish once, and OK from the original sound window

That ends up being 10 clicks to get it handled. If I then leave the computer for a while and come back, I have to go through the whole process again.

Is there a way I can set it to stereo and have it stay there?

    Thanks!

    RH
