Windows 10: Windows 10 recording all audio

I have a weird audio issue. Windows will route all my audio output to audio input (only much quieter).

I don't see any audio input in the "Sound » Recording" settings. But when I listen to music and hit record in any recording software, I'll get my output recorded. Also, when voice chatting, my chat partners will hear themselves.

This is true for all audio devices capable of recording (i.e. headset and external usb audio device) and seemingly only when the selected input and output devices are the same.

I have no clue what the cause could be or how to solve this. As a musician this is very annoying as I can't record anything w/o also recording the clicktrack. Now I'm hoping to get some help here.

• Type troubleshooting on the search box.
• Click View all.
• Select Recording Audio.
• Follow the steps to troubleshoot Recording Audio.

Method 1: Hardware Troubleshoot

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with recording. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your recording.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select
  Control panel
• Change the view by option on the top right to
  Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel
• Run the Recording Audio troubleshooter

I suggest you to install all the latest audio and Display drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.
