Windows 10: Windows 10 recovery hangs on 13% quick and 68% full

Depending on type of recovery it hangs on either 13% when choosing I will keep the laptop or around 68% when choosing recycle.


I have waited for over 8 hours stuck on the same percentage. I have tried to format the harddrive to FAT32 and NTFS.


After dual boot for some time, but mostly booting into Windows, I wanted to only have one system on my laptop. So I tried to go for Windows, but now it seems to be Linux only after several failed attempt to install Windows 10. Although not a big issue, I would like to fix this and find out how to install Windows 10 since it is somewhat more convenient regarding certain apps I would like to use.


I suspect the Windows installer might not format the hard drive and gets confused with the setup. I have tried with both a recovery pen I made when I first booted the PC, as well as a Windows 10 installer USB edit: this doesn't seem to start installing at all.


It seems like many others have had similar problems dating way back, but I have not come across anyone with a good solution to this.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
