  1. Windows 10 reinstall

Dear Sir, Madam I have a three month old Acer Aspire 5 A515-54-73EG see this link for specifications https://www.acer.com/ac/nl/NL/content/model/NX.HN2EH.006.
After a windows update on July 15, my computer was shut down on July 16 and I got a blue screen. Through the log book and the problem report, I could see that there is a hardware error. It's a live kennel event code 144. I could still start up the computer and go up a Chrome page that did it for a while, but then gave an error message and the page became untreated for me. After a few seconds or minutes I got a blue screen. I've had that blue screen all the time for the rest of the days with different stop codes memory management, and this one below. CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED Irql_not_less_or_equal PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
I searched on Google and tried everything. All drivers were up to date according to Windows, except the firmware.
I updated my firmware. I deleted Windows update to no avail. Through the system recovery environment I tried everything command prompt, startup settings, system recovery, boot settings, quality and support settings removed but nothing worked. Automatic recovery didn't work either and I was in an automatic repair loop. Then we got a worse problem with a blue screen: critical process died.

Since then I could only choose from reboots, enter recovery environment, startup settings and firmware settings. When I restart, I get the same thing. I can no longer enter the Recovery environment and it gives an error code of 0xc0000098 and File \BCD. The Boot configuration Data file does not contain valid information for your operating system. All startup settings don't work: if I select one I get a still Acer logo or a blue screen with the stop code: critical process died. If I turn on the computer without a USB stick, it only displays the Acer logo.
Now I want to reinstall Windows via a booted USB flash disk Datatraveler 100 G3 64GB. After I put the USB stick in the Acer, it goes to the Windows logo with a rotating circle there is also a lying dash at the top left of the screen. However, after a few seconds I get a blue screen with the stop code 0xc0000021a. When I turn the computer back on, the Windows logo will remain fixed without a rotating round. I would like to go to the Windows Setup menu to repair the computer/reinstall Windows. Do you know a solution? Thanks in advance. With kind greetings, Jack Buitelaar.

    :)

[Solved] Windows 10 keeps reinstalling KB3119142

I noticed quite some time ago that KB3119142 (Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable Package) kept reinstalling itself for some reason. At least once daily. Sometimes up to several times a day. I just ignored it. It didn't seem to be doing any harm. And I figured they'd eventually fix it. Well...days turned into weeks, weeks into months, with no end to the problem in sight. It dragged on unsolved for at least the last few months. Literally reinstalling itself hundreds of(at least a hundred, felt like more) times in that period of time.

So I finally googled it a couple days ago. And just got around to fixing it today. Which appears to have worked. And it couldn't have been easier to do. I feel so stupid to have let it intimidate me for so long.*Oops! Windows 10 reinstall
Below are links to the thread that I got the fix idea from, and the official MS support info page for KB3119142(from which I quoted the above).

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
