Windows 10: Windows 10 Remote Desktop Session - Sound stops when disconnect

To summarise: Connecting or disconnecting a Remote Desktop session to a Windows 10 machine disrupts the Audio Drivers in a way that halts audio playback, and requires the playing application to be restarted. It seems tied to updates to Remote Desktop in Windows 10 Anniversary Edition.


That thread had plenty of people experiencing the same problem, plenty of attempts to fix the problem, but no conclusion or feedback from Microsoft.


I have tried:

• Disabling audio redirection in the Registry HLKM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\fDisableAudioCapture
• Disabling the Remote Desktop Port Redirection Service
• Disabling on my client Remote Audio Playback Playback on Remote PC

None of these help. As soon as you connect or disconnect, RDP is messing with the Wave drivers, and the applications can't handle it.


Does anyone share this problem or have any other suggestions to try?

Hi.

When I disconnect a Remote Desktop Session to a Windows 10 host, the applications keep on running, but sounds stop playing, in fact music stop playing.

The Remote Sessions is configured to play sound in the host PC.

Until a couple of days ago, it used to work fine. I do not remember having changed a configuration around this.

It used to work even after the anniversary upgrade.

I have tried changing the policies with the Group Policies Editor, to make sure the session continues after ending the Remote Session but without success.

Can someone help me?, please.

Same thing here. I use RadioFeed to stream a scanner to the internet. Works fine until I RD in then the line in audio stops. I have "Play Sound on Remote Computer" selected. This setting used to allow it to work fine before. If I restart RadioFeed
while in a RD session it will begin working again until I disconnect from the RD session at which point it stops working again. It's a shame because Remote Desktop is the best experience I have found for remoteing into my computer but I can't use it if it
disconnects my line in audio every time.

Same problem here.

My scenario:

• I use foobar2000 to play music on the remote PC.
  
• On that remote PC I have installed virtual-audio-capture-grabber-device
  so that I can stream the music with ffmpeg to my own app.
  
• After disconnecting from the remote PC, my music streaming stops.

I have confirmed that the foobar2000 never stop playing. The ffmpeg never stop streaming. It looks like the audio output being suspended while RDP session being disconnected. Maybe there is a new energy-saver policy for device after the anniversary update
of win10?

It had worked many years from XP to the-before-anniversary-updated Win10.

It seems I can't but switch to Chrome desktop.
