  1. Windows 10 removed VERY IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS from my computer without permission

Hello, so this didn't happen to me, but to my stepmother. She has her own company and does online finanacing which involves a lot of invoices and .pdf files. She informed me the other day that OneDrive asked her if she wanted to sync up to the cloud, im guessing as a backup. She clicked allow, and instead of backing files up, it deleted almost all of her files from her computer and her OneDrive. She informed me again today on 12/12/19 that it basically did it again, but this time the files it took weren't backed up to OneDrive, they were never linked to OneDrive. She started work with a new client at the beginning of this month, and tells me today that almost alll of her files from the new client are gone as well. I went through her computer and made sure that they weren't gone but maybe moved to a random folder somewhere on the computer (which for some reason windows loves to do.) She lost over 1000 invoices and over a weeks work of VERY hard work. Windows also didn't delete all of them, only a very good amount of them. This didnt just happen once, it happened twice, again for no reason, it literally had no reason or purpose to delete those files, non got corrupted or anything like that, they were there one day (she doesnt turn off her computer either btw, so it isnt a restart/startup issue) and gone the next.

I don't know what Microsoft has done to windows 10 but omg, this is ridiculous. I used to love using windows, spoke very highly of it, and for some reason 2019 has been a very rough year for them, considering that the microsoft store doesnt even work now and ive been having my own problems with my computer. I want to know why all of my stepmothers files are GONE and nowhere to be found. This problem is now getting to the point to where it will be affecting her ability to work and support us because windows decides to delete a bunch of files for no reason.

So, I'll say this, I DO NOT want a microsoft employee to bs me and tell me a bunch of things that wont work or some bs excuse. MICROSOFT needs to get back in line with their software. I would love to know why this happened not once, but twice.

    :)

How is the NAS on windows 10 Pro? Is it software or a share? Did you check ntfs vs share permissions?

  3. Import of scanned document to the computer (windows 10)

    Hi Gerd,

This is a possible folder permission issue as you are denied access when trying to save a scanned picture or document on your computer. To address this issue, you may try the following options:

    Checking folder permission.

    • Right-click the Windows key and click File Explorer.
    • Look for the folder you want to have access.
    • Right-click it and click Properties.
    • Click the Security tab.
    • Click Advanced.
    • Once the Advanced page is open, check if you have full access to the folder. If you don't have full access, try to login as the administrator and adjust the permission.

    Create a new folder.

    • Right-click on your desktop or File Explorer and click New > Folder.
    • Rename the folder.
    • Try to import the scanned photo or documents again and change the destination folder to the new one that you have created.

Let us know how it goes so we can provide further help.

    Regards.

Import of scanned document to the computer (windows 10)

    Hello Gerd,

This may still be a folder permission issue. In addition to Vanessa's suggestion to add folder permission, from step 5, after clicking on the
    Advanced button, try the following:

    • Go to the Owner tab
    • Click on the Edit button
    • Select the entire group or your user account from the Change owner to list.
    • Click OK and accept all the confirmations.
    • After taking the ownership, go back to the Security tab of the folder and assign the appropriate permissions.

If the issue persists, you may need to contact your printer's manufacturer to check for the most updated driver.

Let us know if you have other concerns.
