Windows 10: Windows 10 reset automatically. Some files & software LOST.

I am a computer noob so I will be writing in a very lay man's language.

Recently I updated my Windows to Version 1909. Today morning when I turned on my PC, everything was back to the way when I had purchased it - Stock wallpaper, my personal icons on desktop were missing, other customizations like the task bar was back to normal. My browser history, passwords were gone; my drives were unaffected and the space utilized was the same in each one but the Downloads, documents, pictures and videos folders were empty now. I also lost some of the installed softwares like Zoom, Adobe Photoshop but did not lose any of the games that I had (I am guessing because the former were installed in C drive while the latter in F). I also lost some pre-installed programmes like Photos.

I installed Zoom for an important meeting but after finishing when I restarted it was gone again, along with any other small customizations I had done after the whole reset event. (Its almost like new guest account every time I boot my PC, except its my own admin account.) So now my PC is back to its factory setting every time I turn it on.

Files lost after Automatic Repair

The files & folders from the previous operating system after the upgrade to Windows 10 might have been saved in the
windows.old folder. Check if the lost files and folders are present in
windows.old folder by following the steps below:



Step 1: Using Cortana

  Press Windows icon key on the keyboard and type
  windows.old in the search box.

  Select the search result which shows folder and drive location of the program.
  
• 
  Follow the file/folder path to check the contents of the same.
  

Step 2: Using Windows explorer

  Press Windows logo + E keys on the keyboard to open Windows Explorer.

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
