Windows 10: Windows 10 reset,.Endless rebooting. No freeze.

I purchased a PC with Windows 10 pre-installed last year and recently I decided to do a PC reset because of various weird issues.The first part of the process went fine, however when I reach the "Drivers and features " part of the installation it seems installs fine and reaches the high "90s" before the PC reboots and it repeats the "Drivers and features " portion again over and over. It's literally been doing this for 14 hours.No freezes or hangs just a continual loop. Do not have a previous windows OS to fall back to. What are my options? Seen tips such as removing all USB peripherals and that didn't solve the issue. Thanks in advance.

Windows 10 endless loop

Windows 10 recently did an update on my HP Pavilion P7-1235. The update did not complete and now windows in stuck in an endless reboot loop. The Windows logo pops up for about 5 seconds and then the computer resets. I tried running Windows 10 ISO but
that doesn't work. It says that another update is already running and needs to be completed. However, with the endless loop, I can not complete this update.

Hi, you mention various weird issues (unspecified) prior to trying to reset the PC - which means you're trying and failing to reinstall Windows.

Which option did you pick here?




The first thing I'd suspect is the drive onto which you're trying to install Windows. So I'd run a test on that drive, either connecting it to another PC or using live boot media with suitable software on it. You haven't completed the spec of your PC so we don't know if it's a HDD or a SSD.

You could run chkdsk on it from a Win 10 boot medium, but I'd want to establish more confidence in it.

Note: good precautions when you are back up and running are
a. enable System Restore
b. set up a scheduled task to create a daily restore point
c. use disk imaging regularly, updating before and after a major change.

- This means you can restore your PC to a previously working state without technical assistance, assuming the hardware is ok.

 

Thanks for the reply, I ran tests on the drives yesterday and everything checked out to be fine. The PC is a Dell Inspiron 4460 with a HDD drive type. As for the option in the image you posted I chose the second option.

The weird issues were that my sister kept complaining of random errors on the PC all of it was registry related. Couldn't install programs or updates without getting hit with an error message.

 

Ok, then I suggest you try first reformatting the disk, then a clean install.

Do you mean it has an i5-4460 in it? I can't find Inspiron 4460...

 

Yes, you're correct. That's the processor my mistake. It's a 3847.

How can I go about reformatting when the only options I have are the boot options and set up before I get to the installing windows screen and can't I advance beyond that point?

Hi you can do that using the boot medium for a 3rd party partition manager.

Eg
MiniTool Partition Wizard Boot CD.
