Windows 10: Windows 10 reset

Ok so basically I tried to reset windows 10 on my laptop and chose the 2nd option of reinstalling windows from the laptop itself, since I had the recovery folder/file in a separate hd. The problem is my laptop would just semi restart, as in the screen would light up and then go darker on a inconsistent loop, some times the fans go louder for slightly longer and then they dont. The first time it did this I presumed it was doing installations so I didn't bother too much, but it stayed like this for around 10 hours. Another problem is I dont know if the screen is showing something or not since its broken and I use a monitor, but the monitor just shows no connection/signall. If anyone happens to have a solution please let me know.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
