Windows 10: Windows 10 Resolution Problem

There's not much anyone cna do unless there is information to work on.

Then please post a screen shot of
Settings> Display
and the advanced settings

Post a screen shot of DevMgr > Display > Properties > Detail tab

Post a screen shot of Control Panel Devices & Printers

Please identify the monitor

Please update the Systems Specs in your forum profile with complete information.

• In the System Manufacturer/Model Number field, manually type Desktop or Laptop adding it to the information already in the field. The specific model number is important - there are often many models of a given series.
  For example, my machine is a HP Pavilion dv6, but there are tens of the dv6 series, so dv6-6c10us is the specific model.
  
  
• Specify Custom Build as the manufacturer if it is not an OEM machine.

The easiest way to do this is to use the information from a PUBLISHED Speccy report.

Post the link to the report that Speccy gives you and also open the Speccy link.
Then click here to view your System Specs on this forum.

When you have both windows open, put them side-by-side and simply copy the information, field by field, from the Speccy report to your System Specs.

To see what information other members provide in their System Specs, click on My System Specs in the lower left of any post by any member.

It seems like the problem lies in the vga to hdmi adapter I had to get to connect my old monitor to my PC maybe?

 

Thanks for posting all of the information. I'll look at the Speccy to look for something that might cause this or for something that might help.

The first thing that popped out when I saw the Devs & Prtrs was the vga-hdmi adapter. That's not to say that it is the cause, but we both thought the same thing.

Is there any other way you can connect the monitor or are you limited to a mismatch between the connections on the box and the monitor?

Also thanks for updating your system specs, other members use that exclusively.

I might not get to this for a while - others might drop by and offer suggestions.

 

My monitor cable is vga and my computer does not have a vga port, only hdmi and dvi, so I went out and bought a vga to hdmi adapter to connect it. All was working fine until I accidentally unplugged my monitor from the wall.

 

System Properties > Advanced tab > Environment Variables
User variables > new button
Var name: devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices
Var value: 1Ok out of properties
DevMgr > View Menu > Show Hidden
Monitors
Uninstall all - non-present (grey) and present
Remove software if prompted
Shut down
and power off monitor

Start the PC
wait about 1 minute
power on the Monitor

Run Windows Update manually

Check the display settings

But with your monitor you should have 1920x1080.

Please make two things sure.
First: The monitor is connected with the Graphics card, not to the motherboard's display ports. I mean, not anywhere here:

Second: You have display driver 368.69 - WHQL installed. Better you install it now.

With both the above conditions fulfilled, restart the computer. See what happens. Let us know.

 

Slartybart + others, thank you so much for taking your time to help me, after uninstalling everything on the monitor tab and restarting the computer my resolution is back to normal, thanks so much. *Smile

 

Clean install or reinstalling graphics drivers will sure solve this
