    Windows 10 Rest stuck at 99% after 28 hours


    I had to do a reset of my mothers computer because it was compromised by someone calling her and telling her they worked for Microsoft and she had issues with her computer. The remoted into her computer and did some adjustments that she claimed helped her. I wanted to get her computer to a place that we would be assured that they would no longer have any access so I was advised to do a reset. I took her document files and ran them through a few test to make sure they were not compromised and I did a full system reset. I started the reset yesterday morning, it has been at 99% for over 18 hours. is this normal? I have seen others had the same issue. I see conflicting things to do. some say to wait, because it is a long process and it just needs to finish. others stopped the process and followed a process to get to a reboot. I am not sure the best path. Her computer is a HP originally windows 8 with the upgrade to windows 10 a few years back. Your advise and feed back would be greatly appreciate. - Thanks Tammy

    • Do let us know if you are able to see any error code / error message with this issue?
    • Are you referring to installing updates on Windows 10/ upgrade to Windows 10 from previous operating system?

    Do you mean 4 to 7 hours from when I started, or 4 to 7 hours after it became stuck at 99%?

    Will the free upgrade period be extended past today, for people that are experiencing these difficulties?
