    Windows 10 restore failure

Dell Inspiron 3505, just upgraded to 500GB M2 from a 128GB M2. Also added another 8GB RAM. Plan to create dual boot machine with Windows 10 & Linux. Created GPT partition table via gparted & 128GB NTFS primary parition for Win10. Booted from a system restore USB I made. Restore process runs until about 80% complete, at which point it stops & I get a message re recovery failure. I tried it three times, getting the same results each time. I recently updated to the most current Win10 version. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

    :)

Restoring Windows 10 Image using Macrium Reflect

In addition to the above. Here's my suggestion in step by step.
I assume you have Macrium Installed in your current HD and already made a backup copy.
    1. Connect your new HD via USB port and boot up.
    2. Run Macrium, click on Restore tab then select the Backup Image that you made to restore
    3. click on "select a different target disk" then select your new HD as destination

    4. Proceed to restore then Shutdown and disconnect the old HD and replace with the new HD
    5. Boot up with your new HD.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    System restore failure windows 10

    Hi,

As you are facing issues with the “failure of the computer to shut down” I suggest you perform the below methods and check if it helps.

I suggest you to try running the Power Troubleshooter to check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Run the Power troubleshooter on the system.

    Refer these steps:

    • Press Windows key + X, select Control panel.
    • Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
    • Run the Power troubleshooter
Further you can try creating a new power plan according to your preference. Refer the link below for more details on Power Plans.
