Discus and support Windows 10 restore from image parameter is incorrect error in Windows 10 Installation and Upgrade to solve the problem; I have a Windows 10 Pro desktop with an old 500GB HD that I wanted to replace.     Windows 10 restore from image parameter is incorrect error


    I have a Windows 10 Pro desktop with an old 500GB HD that I wanted to replace. Saved system image on a USB HD and then replaced it with a 1TB SSD. Booted from recovery CD and went through the whole system restore from tried twice to restore and got the restore from image failed, parameter is incorrect error. I tried to boot from the new SSD and got a non-system disc error. I then swapped back to the original HD and checked the SSD volume in the disc manager it seemed to have been mirrored. Tried one more time and got the same parameter is incorrect error. I decided to click OK and then

    The Error code 0x80070057 the parameter is incorrect can be caused by an corrupted restore file. It would be great if you can tell us more about your concern. Kindly answer the following:

    • Did you notice any system setting changes prior to the issue?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    Please tell us all the troubleshooting steps you've done so we can avoid repeats.

    Windows 10 System Image Restore Failure - The Parameter is Incorrect

    This bug is not specific to 10, it's the general pickiness of the system imaging feature.

    My suggestion? Give up. I spent a month trying to solve this problem with the imaging feature. It's too picky about what it will restore to.

    My suggestion is just install the free version of Macrium Reflect and let that handle all your system imaging needs. It is a much easier and flexible tool and you don't get stupid "parameter is incorrect" errors because you plugged a USB device into a port
    Windows doesn't like.

    Windows system image restore failed. The parameter is incorrect. Error code 0x80070057

    But you are sending me back into my original problem. If I boot from USB installation disk, I got the error at the end of restore
