Windows 10: Windows 10 Restore

After selecting a shortcut to an excel file the excel screen came up with out the document Clicked X to close and the blank and Dark blue screen came up.


Powered off for 10 mins then powered up again. Repair Required Screen displayed.


Selected Repair This PC (Keep my files option) - resulted in "there was a problem resetting your pc no changes were made".


As I can't even get started with Windows I can't enter Safe Mode.


I tried booting of a recovery DVD but the same errors advising a system reset required came up.



Where do I go from here? I don't have a copy of my Windows 10 Key so getting a new hard drive installed will be an issue. This is a Win 10 64bit Pro edition and my other machines are 64 bit Home so I can't produce a bootable usb recovery drive from them either.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Restoring Windows 10 Image using Macrium Reflect


In addition to the above. Here's my suggestion in step by step.
I assume you have Macrium Installed in your current HD and already made a backup copy.

1. Connect your new HD via USB port and boot up.
2. Run Macrium, click on Restore tab then select the Backup Image that you made to restore
3. click on "select a different target disk" then select your new HD as destination
   
   
   
4. Proceed to restore then Shutdown and disconnect the old HD and replace with the new HD
5. Boot up with your new HD.

 

Windows XP PRO error after restore

System restore is handy when it works like it did for me 2 days ago saving the need to reinstall all of my software as well as windows, id suggest using norton Ghost 12 for an excellent system restore feature.
