  1. Windows 10 retail license deactivation/activation when moving to a new PC

I am a little confused on proper workflow. I am building a new PC and want to move my Windows 10 Home version retail license to the new PC. I will install Windows 10 from a USB stick, so it will be a new installation. I understand I am supposed to first deactivate my license on the old PC before activating on the new PC. However, I want to make sure everything works correctly, meaning hardware, on the new PC before completely moving over to it and never using the old PC again. If, underway, I discover problems with the new PC, then I will want to revert back to the old PC until these problems

    :)

Trouble moving digital retail Windows license to new PC (activation fails)

    Hi.

I have an insane trouble with Windows activation on new PC and could not find way of getting real support.

Back in a day I purchased Windows 10 Pro license from Microsoft Store, so Digital Retail license.

PC was updated to Windows 11 Pro and was working and activated.

PC hardware become obsolete and built a new one.

On the new PC I installed Windows 11 Pro and use my Microsoft account for login.

Before doing so I deleted old PC from devices list on ttps://account.microsoft.com/devices.

Unfortunately, Windows not activating. All troubleshooting steps from any articles from Microsoft - does not help.

On old PC Windows still shows as activated, so probably license still consumed by it.

It seem phone support does not exist anymore. I tried contacting support via Microsoft Help many times, provided my phone number, but all cases simply immediately closed right after opening with "issue resolved" status.

So I completely stuck and don't understand what to do.

Are there any way to get assistance from real support agent?

Transfer Retail License to New PC

I have a Windows 7 PRO Retail license that was upgraded to Windows 10 PRO during the free upgrade period.
My understanding after reading on MS Forum is that my license is now Windows 10 PRO RETAIL and can be transferred to another PC. I believe the license was also converted to digital and tied to my Microsoft account.
This license ran on a Mac and I deactivated the license using slmgr.vbs /upk which completed successfully. I then removed the bootcamp partition from the Mac.

I have an Alienware PC that came with Windows 10 Home. I'd like to use the Windows 10 PRO license on the Alienware PC, but using Microsoft Store or Activation->Change Product Key methods, keeps asking for a Product Key. How can I transfer the Windows 10
PRO license to the Alienware PC?

    Thanks!

Trouble moving digital retail Windows license to new PC (activation fails)

    Hi, Dyari.

The guide you mentioned is about Non-digital retail versions when you actually have a key.

Mine is digital retail (purchased via Microsoft Store) linked to my Microsoft account, you don't have key in this case.

I don't know how to properly deactivate license on old PC, so I just deleted it.

I managed top get back my old PC to Microsoft account, I see both at https://account.microsoft.com/devices, old still activated, new one is not, troubleshooting procedure with "changed hardware" does not work because it can't find any device from which license can be transferred.
