Windows 10: Windows 10 retail license reuse on new hardware

Hi,I have a retail license at least the commandline tool says so for Windows 10 that was originally a Windows 7 license that benefitted from the free upgrade that was possible some time ago. I still have the sticker with Windows 7 product key. I don't currently see the old device in my microsoft account because it only has a local administrator account that isn't linked to any microsoft accounts, but I'm not sure if that means the license isn't tied to my account? I want to transfer this license to a new PC that I bought, how can I do that? If I remove the key from the old PC will I be able

Windows 10 upgrade license

Hello guys,

I have 1 license of WIndows 8.1 FPP/retail license. I want to upgrade to WIndows 10, but I one thing is unclear to me.
If I upgrade, will WIndows 10 license be retail or it will "turn" into some sort of OEM license?

I ask this because I upgrade my PC, you know, more memory, replace HDD, and I intend to upgrade the MB and CPU to Kaby Lake platform sometime in the future, (and of course sell the replaced hardware)
This thing is not clearly mentioned anywhere.

Reuse license to Install Windows 10 on a new hard drive

I'm installing a new hard drive on a PC hard drive that failed, it was upgrade from windows 7 to 10, can I reuse the license? and if so, do I have to install window 7 first then upgrade or just install windows 10? what are the steps to do this, do contact
Microsoft?

 

Want to Reinstall windows 10 in new PC

1. If Windows was preinstalled i..e OEM version, then you can not use the license on another hardware. OEM license is tied to motherboard and if motherboard is changed, you can not reuse the same license on new motherboard.

In this case, you need to buy a new license.

2. But if it was Retail license, then you can do it.

Let me know whether it was OEM or Retail. Accordingly, I can provide the steps if Retail.
