Windows 10: Windows 10 Right Click on Pinned Apps for Recent files "The item you selected is unavailable"

This has bugged me for a while. It happens for the app 7zip. I click on a *.7z file and it correctly opens the associated app, 7zip File Manager 7zFM.exe. I right click and am able to pin it to the taskbar.

I'm then able to click the 7z FM app but when I try to right-click to open a recent or pinned 7z file, it always shows the message "The item you selected is unavailable" even though it *is* available and works fine if I double click on it directly from explorer. Hovering over the item with the mouse shows the correct item.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I apologize if this is the wrong section, I'm new to this forums, but I'm kinda desperate.


I barely use my PC, I use it mostly for games, music and some videos now and then. Also incase I've forgotten to mention it's pretty new (maybe 2 months old).
I pinned my VLC Media Player so I could access recently used items faster. Whenever I play an .mp3 file it is added to my recent list, although when I try to re-play it from the recent list it gives me the error:

UPDATE: Also, I think it's important to mention I'm using Classic Shell.

 

Recently used file missing when you right click Office 2019 apps pinned to taskbar

We have a virtual environment that we just started testing Office 2019 with on Win10. While the recently used files are there on the start up screen for each office item when you launch them, the recent list is not there when you right click Word/Excel/PowerPoint/etc
from the pinned items on the taskbar.

I have the Start settings set to "on" for "Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar and in File Explorer Quick Access". Any other suggestions?

How to pin app shortcut to desk top?

I suggest you to follow below steps to change pin the apps on the desktop screen and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to perform the below steps to add the apps on desktop.

• Click on the “Start button” and locate the App that you want to pin to Desktop.
• Right click on the “App” and click on “More options”.
• Then click on “Open File location” and right click on the app, click on “Send to” option.
• Then select “Desktop (Create shortcut)”.
• Go to “Desktop” and check whether the app is located or not.

Or Step 2: To add shortcuts to the desktop

• Press and hold or right-click the desktop, tap or click New, and then tap or click Shortcut.
• Enter the location of the item or tap or click Browse to find the item in File Explorer.
