Windows 10: Windows 10 RTM: When Will It Happen?

I meant that usually MS targets the holiday season buying frenzy with their releases. Both Windows 7 and Windows 8 were released in October, so that the laptop you buy during holidays has the new OS.

So it could be that they are releasing a half-baked version now, to benefit from early adopters finding the bugs they've missed.
This way, when mainstream buyers get it after Thanksgiving, it's already fixed.

 

In a way this comment makes sense... When installing or even upgrading, I've noticed that 10 looks for updates/changes first, after it extracts, but before installing.

 

Exactly. Plus, it was announced that consumer versions no longer allow to disable mandatory updates from happening automatically. So if we put 2 and 2 together...

 

Hmmmm?*Think I began to noticed this because I'm using pre-paid USB Mobile Broadband and Windows 10 TP(now IP) absolutely doesn't allow updating on metered connections, so I have to download the ISO's as they come out(usually from MEGA), but when upgrading it does look for updates and implements them. Then when installed, it's back to not being able to update*Sad. The only updating I can do is Defender, and for that I HAVE to do it through Defenders UI.

 

I meant that you won't be able to turn updates OFF on Windows 10 consumer editions.

From what I read it's true we won't be able to skip updates. The good thing is that they won't be released until after they are thoroughly tested by the Insider Program users.

 

Half baked?? When Win10 is released it's going to be as good as possible. MS would not dare release an OS that's not up to snuff. Keep in mind that no matter what they do there will be bugs and they will fix them.
