Windows 10: windows 10 running at extremely slow speed

I am running windows 10 version 1709 (OS build 16299.431)


I went out for 20 minutes with my system up and running and online. When I came back my system was in the Bios settings.

I turned it off and powered it on and it got me to my logon screen then system started working at grindingly slow speed with no access to settings, file directory and extremely slow reaction time to commands i.e press button and get a screen up 5 minutes after.

I tried to run a scan fc but eventually gave up after 4 hours since it had only reached 4 %.

I tried to run my PC in safe mode to no avail. Still extremely slow. And impossible to open device manager , hardware storage, explorer and most system commands. When I try to open the tskmanager I get an exception processing message 0xc0000006 Parameters 0x7fff90f01b58 0x7fff90f01b58 0x7fff90f01b58 error.


Any help is most appreciated!

How do I fix slow internet speeds on a laptop running windows 10, other computers running windows 8 are fine?

• The latest update I have showing is "2018-02 Cumulative update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64 based system KB4074588"
• I've tried all the below steps suggested by Eeshwar Kumar in this link: Why is Windows Store's download speed so slow?

Windows 10 download speed issues

Try this method:

• First of all from Start Menu, open Settings (Type settings in the search bar and it will appear).
• locate and select “Update and Security“.
• in this window, Locate “Advanced Options”. Click on it.
• In Advanced Options; Click on “Choose How Updates are Delivered“.
• Turn off Updates from more than one place.

Your system will not work as a seeder for other Windows 10 users. It will give sudden boast to your Slow internet speed.
