  1. Windows 10 runs updates without permission and computer is unusable for several hours

Hi, I have set the connections to "Metered", and under Windows Update's Advanced Options "Download over metered ..." is turned off.

During my active hours, Windows 10 starts an update without even asking, and my computer was frozen for several hours because I was also using 3D softwares, then Task Manager finally opened and I saw the windows update running.

This happens every few months. Why not ask the user when to install the update? And if it is a necessary update, tell the user that you need to update it soon, but let him chose when.

Windows 10 right now is not usable and reliable for work. Is there a way to prevent this?

    Thank you

    :)

    Windows 10 permissions...

How is the NAS on windows 10 Pro? Is it software or a share? Did you check ntfs vs share permissions?

    Windows 10 permissions...

Ok so I feel officially dumb I am trying to copy my steam library to my NAS. Both are on windows 10 pro and both have full control in the file manager. Neither windows nor fast copy will allow me to copy, both list a permissions error? This was never an issue with windows 7...so first off thank you microsoft god forbid I want to back up my data, second off what the heck do I need to do to make this work. All I could fine online was to set full control and that obviously didn't help.

Also robocopy doesn't apparently work with network locations?

  4. Windows 10 runs updates without permission and computer is unusable for several hours

windows 10 automatic updates make my computer unusable for hours

With the latest build of Windows 10, you can instead
    set the Active hours
so that it will not restart to install the updates on the hours when you usually use your PC.

To help improve the performance of Windows 10 on your computer, you can download and run the
    Performance Troubleshooter for Windows 10.

Regarding your feedback or suggestion, it would be best if you could share it on the
Feedback Hub app installed on your Windows 10 computer.
