  1. Windows 10 says no speaker device is installed after unplugging headphones on laptop

Hello guys. So I noticed that once I unplugg my headphones, I see that little red cross on the speaker icon on the taskbar. When I hover my mouse on it, it says that no speaker device is installed. I did this method of fixing, but it was temporary and the problem happened again. In taskbar, on system tray right click on volume icon.Select Playback devices.Under playback tab. Click on Speaker/Headphone.Click on Properties tab.Go to Advance tab.Click on Restore to default. And when I tried to update the laptops speaker drivers and the drivers of my headphones, it said that it already had the best

    :)

Speakers and headphones work at the same time

    Hi.

Let us isolate your concern by answering these few questions.

    • Have you tried connecting your headphones directly to your desktop?
    • Does your speaker work normally when connected to your desktop?
You may try the following steps to help resolve your concern:

    • Unplug or Disconnect your speaker from the desktop.
    • Connect your headphone directly to the desktop.
If the headphone works properly when directly connected to the desktop, we suggest that you contact your speaker manufacturer for assistance.

Let us know how it goes.

  3. (laptop/windows10)headphones recognized as speakers

    Hello,

as I used to know headphones and speakers(integrated) are
two separate devices meaning that in playback devices or in
device manager's audio inputs and outputs devices
they are listed separately and whenever you
plug/unplug the headphones it appears/disappears in them, that's the normal state.

However, in my laptop (it's an Asus X550V with Windows 10 x64-bit installed in it) when I plug the headphones it works but
it does not show up in the
    playback devices
nor in the device manager's audio inputs and outputs devices and it
doesn't perform as headphones either, the sound is way quiet than it should be.

Here are the resolutions that I tried and failed to solve the problem with mentioning that I encountered an interesting
close up to the solution in one part but an other problem occurred:

    • unplugging/replugging the headphones did not work
    • restarting the computer did not work
    • troubleshooting audio problems did not detect anything wrong
    • (edit) I used the headphones on another laptop(windows 7) and it was detected as headphones
    • in playback devices show disabled devices and show disconnected devices are ticked, unfortunately, only speakers is in the list of playback devices meaning there is no way that the headphones is disabled
    • disabling speakers did not work(no audio output device is enabled sign appears with no doubt) (enabled back)
    • I uninstalled every single sound, video and game controller device in the
device manager(Nvidia hdmi audio/Realtek hd audio/I'm not sure what if it was Intel or Microsoft hd audio but when checking it's proprieties it was manufactured by Microsoft ) including their drivers, restarted the computer as it asked and
a here I was too close to the solution, the speakers and the headphones are separated but when I tested the speakers it didn't work(it exists in playback devices with the state enabled there I finally saw headphones as disconnected) so I plugged the headphones
and it worked properly and as I wanted them to work with loud volume and the ability to change its properties as headphones not as speakers, here I should mention that the speakers is still enabled and I am able to switch between the two devices again however
only the headphones work. After some moments windows update detected the missing driver, installed it automatically and windows demanded restarted in order to finish the installation of the driver so I restarted the laptop and everything is back to first problem,
only the speakers show and the headphones don't and it works as speaker resulting the low volume.(I should also mention that Nvidia audio device disappeared even if I scan for hardware changes but no need for it because It'll have me to reinstall the whole
Nvidia driver/meanwhile that Intel or Microsoft hd audio device faced problems starting and installing driver with an error (code 10))
    • I isolated the PC from every source of Internet and repeated the whole previous step certainly windows update did not detect the driver because the laptop is offline, I installed the driver through the DVD accompanied with the computer.(this denies that
the latest version of the driver is the problem because the version manually installed was older) and it did not work(yes I passed through that close up again but after all it's not a solution)
Help me I need to use the sound(edit) through my headphones and properly in my games but this problem is preventing me!

Speakers playing when headphones are plugged in

I have an HP laptop with windows 10. When my headphones are plugged in, the speakers are still playing. When I go to sounds, the only device listed is the speakers. How can I silence the speakers when the headphones are plugged in.
