Windows 10: Windows 10 screen autodims whenever a program with a dark background is running, cannot...

Hello, I am using Windows 10 Pro, and I've been having an issue with the screen automatically dimming whenever a program with a dark background steam, night time in games, etc is on screen. It becomes so dark that you can't even see properly, the display is still visible, just very very dark.


I have NO options in Display OR power to automastically adjust brightness, they just aren't there, I see no brightness options in Display, and all I see in advanced options of my power settings under Display is when to put the monitor to sleep. There is also no brightness settng in the taskbar action center.


I am on an NVIDIA GTX 1050 TI, using an ASUS motherboard and a Ryzen 7 processor. My copy of windows has been activated, I have restarted my computer, I have downloaded up to date drivers.


Why do these options not appear for me? It is making my computer borderline unusable in many programs, especially for gaming.

GPU not idling when program running in background

Whenever there is a program running in background like utorrent, the clock is stuck at 993mhz and the memory at 1500mhz..when I turn it off, the clocks are back to normal...need a fix ..drivers are the latest whql (not 337.5)..clock is measured from zotac firestorm..(use it for fan curve also..works flawlessly)..any suggestions will be appreciated..

 

Program running a background process?

I'm running Corel Video Studio 2018, and it's updates function shows characteristics of a background process:

- the program has an auto check daily plus a manual option for updates

- manually checked, presented with an option of downloading an update and Ok'd, evidence of any activity vanishes from the program workspace, yet the connected internet modem activity light begins running hot as the download happens

- it's repeatable over several up-date cycles

The evidence seems to suggest a background activity - whilst the program/PC is free to use for other things. Several software packages do this.

However, a check in task manager/processes, show all, does not display any info of a related background process for any Corel or Video Studio program. If a background process is being used by the software, MUST it be listed in the task manager/processes
list?

Platform is windows 7 home sp1 64bit plus the important patches.

 

Background picture turning dark automatically in Windows 10

• Does the same issue occur when you set a default picture as the background? Have you tried changing it to a different picture?
  
• Which version of Windows is installed on your machine?
• Does the background picture gets dark? Or is it the dark mode that gets enabled automatically?
  
• Were there any changes made to the computer prior to the issue?

According to the description, it seems like the Dark mode is getting enabled. I would suggest you to change the settings to Light mode and check if the issue persists. If yes, kindly check with the steps listed below and see if it works.

Method 1: Update Display drivers.

The issue could be occur due to the outdated display drivers that are installed on your machine. So, I would suggest you to update the drivers from Device Manager. To do that,

• Right click on the Start menu and click on
  Device Manager.
• Navigate to Display adapters and expand it.
• Right click on the driver to choose Update driver.
  
• If you've already on the latest driver build, you may visit your PC manufacturer's website to download and install the display drivers.

Method 2: Create a new user profile.

The issue could be occurring due to user profile corruption as well, so you may create a new user profile and see if that works. To create a new user account, you may refer the article on
