Windows 10: Windows 10 Search Bar Greyed Out

I'm extremely annoyed. I just got done reinstalling Windows 10 after discovering that somehow the Windows Installer Service was disabled and nothing worked to fix it. Including EVERY Microsoft suggestion. Now I'm reinstalled and discover that the Installer Service is working but the Windows Explorer search bar is greyed out and the Security Service won't start. Last year I experienced this issue and had to reinstall Windows again back then. It looks like I'll need to do that yet AGAIN - followed by reinstalling GBs worth of software. How do these types of errors keep happening? And how do I ge

Video drivers are ok, it's not a video glitch but a software issue in the search component of some kind, apparently...

From a comparison with fresh install in VBox (left) I've found some differences in the registry keys for SearchUI (C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Search_cw5n1h2txyewy\SearchApp.exe):




(differences at the bottom are just for the Jumplist history so we can ignore them...)

I just added also the value "BingSearchEnabled"=dword:00000000, let's see if this is enough to stop this random glitch

Changed 2 things:

• added the value "BingSearchEnabled"=dword:00000000 to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search
  
• changed NVidia settings for SearchUI profile to use application settings for anisotropic filter ignoring driver's customization for SearchApp.exe:
  

2 days and is still ok

I have this random issue opening Search clicking on the search gadget (see pic)
Have no idea what's causing it but I have had this problem form many months, never solved.
When it happens, if I start typing it won't go away, but if I click into the panel area it will disappear showing the menu as usual.

Search Bar/Cortana

From the description, I understand that you are still receiving the pop up notifications, despite having disabled the search functionality in windows 10.

Steps to disable the Search Bar

• Right click on the task bar.
• Select the "Search" option.
• Select "Disable."

However, if the above steps don't work out, perform the below suggested steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Open a CMD window started as Administrator.

Repair corruption: Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth.

Run this command next: Sfc /scannow

Now run these two commands:

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
