Windows 10 Search Results sorting priortiy

I have a drive with folders name with only numeric values, 1 through 10000+. The explorer window sorts correctly in ascending or descending numeric value, but when i use the Windows Explorer search function, it seems to completely ignore any folder over 9999.

I would like a way to simply search this drive based on the most recently created folders first, then descend.

    :)

  2. how to sort search results without searching AGAIN?

    Apologies.

In Windows 10, yes, this will search again if you try to sort the search result.

I would suggest that you put a feedback through feedback hub.

Sorting Search Results Changes Date Accessed

When I use the search feature of File Explorer in Windows 10 to generate a list of files that meet a certain criteria (a partial name search or a date accessed range for example) it behaves as expected returning a list of files. If, however, I then click
on the file name column to sort the results of the search by file name, the Date Accessed date and time update to the current date and time.

I have disabled my virus and firewall products and get the same result, I also booted into Safe mode and got the same results.

Is there a way to stop this from happening as there are occasions where I am specifically looking for a date and time accessed and don't want them to update based on me sorting the search results.

    Thanks.

Disable Web Search Results in Windows 10 Start Menu

    Hi Taira,

Disabling web results in the search box depends on the version and build of your Windows 10. We suggest checking the Windows 10 version and build installed on your computer. To check the version and build, follow the steps below:

    • On Cortana search, type winver and press
      Enter
      .
    • A pop-up box will appear containing the version and build of your operating system.

Meanwhile, you can try these steps on how to disable web results in the search box:

    • Click the search box in the taskbar.
    • Select the Notebook icon

    • Click Settings from the list.
    • In the Settings page, turn off the Cortana can give you suggestions, ideas, reminders, alerts and more option.
    • Also, turn off the Search online and include web results option.

If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to reach out.
