Compare Windows 10 Editions

According to that link, Windows 10 Home is missing "Trusted Boot". Is this saying that Windows 10 Home edition does not have the UEFI secure boot feature available (I could not find any specific details of "Trusted Boot")?

So I was wondering - for the Microsoft sticker certification with Windows 8.1, it was required to have UEFI and the feature Secure Boot to prevent malicious attacks from infecting the bootstrap or other low level startup files. However, for users who desired
to install an older version of Windows or wanted to use an alternative operating system, it was also required that there was a way to turn off Secure Boot in the BIOS settings.

It is known that Windows 10 will require Secure Boot to come with the PC, but will it be like Windows 8/8.1 where it can be turned off for those who seek to use alternatives to the OEM-installed operating system? With the RTM, pre-orders, and the release
date within hours, what is the current specification?

Secure Boot is a feature of the motherboard's UEFI firmware chip instead if your motherboard supports UEFI.

Trusted boot is basically a generic name for a group of security features. The Microsoft article below helps give some details below.

I find it baffling that MS chooses to not include security features which would help ALL users (not just "pro" users).

 

Windows 10 Home supports "Secure Boot" as well, but that is hardware feature of your UEFI firmware chip on the motherboard (if it has one).

 

I was referring to the Trusted Boot. I read the description in the article you linked. Secure Boot is for the bootloader and Trusted Boot is for drivers/software after Secure Boot is done.

To me it seems that there is no reason to leave basic security features out of specific versions.

 

Yeah, Trusted Boot is not supported by the Home edition. *Sad
