  1. Windows 10 Security Problem.

Hoping for a little help with my current issue. For about a week now, my computer has been acting weird. The windows security icon in the hiddin icons tray at the bottom right will not activate when being clicked on. I can search for windows security and open it that way, but it freezes, and then pulls up a blank windows security page. after some messing with it, and waiting, it pops up, but shows virus and threat protection as unknown as well as firewall and network protection unknown (I'm using Windows Defender). it does not allow me to click on anything in the windows security page. every third or forth try I can actually navigate around in windows security, and it says virus and firewall protection is on, but in the firewall tab it says "Windows Defender Firewall is using settings that may make your computer unsafe". When I click the "restore settings" button, nothing happens.

After waiting about 30 seconds for the windows security screen to actually pop up (it immediately opens, but is blank) I get maybe 30 seconds of looking around before the windows security page freezes and doesn't allow me to do anything.

Also, with the mail app, my gmail is still working fine, but my Hotmail account does not work. it says my Hotmail account settings are out of date, and when I click fix, nothing happens.

Both of these problems started at the same time, about a week ago, so I think they are connected somehow. I upgraded my pc in December and have had no problems until these popped up within the last week.

if it helps, my Pc is a dell inspiron 580, upgraded to a i7-870, 16gb corsair 1333mhz ram, rx550 graphics card, and a 500gb ssd. Everything looks normal in my performance monitor. Edge (internet) and all my games seem to be acting normal. As far as I can tell its just Windows Security, and the mail app (specifically my Hotmail account as the gmail account that's linked seems to be fine).

Any help available for someone whose genuinely stumped as to why my pc has started acting this way?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.
