Windows 10: Windows 10 Security Update

Since a recent security update on my Dell machine, I am unable to use any Microsoft app. The PC doesn't load up right. The Desktop is just a black screen now with a few non Microsoft apps like Google Chrome. My weather app (Davis Weatherlink) is locked up, will not boot up, the newer version (6.0.5) will not download & install. All spreadsheets will not load at all using Office 365 & Excel.


This Dell originally had Windows 8, but was upgraded to Windows 10. It was working just fine until these security updates were installed.

Windows 10 Update

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.

Windows 7 Ultimate (64) Security updates not installing.

I have been having problems in installing the updates that I have listed below. For each update I attempted to install them individually but they would not install. I also downloaded the SURT 6.1 KB947821 v27. The problem has been going on now for about 2 months. (whenever the issue with the updates comes to mind I am never near my pc). Thank you in advance.

Microsoft to make Windows 10 updates mandatory

Well, at the moment at least, you can choose to defer upgrades. Under Settings > Windows Updates > Advanced options you need to check the box labeled "Defer upgrades". What does that do? Good question. The answer I've found might illuminate it to a degree.

I hear this only applies to Pro and Enterprise editions. But I can't verify that.
