    tl;dr: even when I disconnect my S22B150 samsung monitor, my computer still detects it as connected and I can't disconnect it. When I tried uninstalling the monitor I got a BSOD with the kernel_mode_heap_corruption message

    Long version:

    I have a three monitor setup, from left to right, Samsung S22B150, Element ELEFW247, HP 23vx, that I generally keep stitched together with Nvidia's surround for a 5760x1080 screen resolution. Some time ago, I stopped being able to open my Nvidia Control Panel while in surround. This was especially true if my computer was turned off while in surround resolution. Still not sure why as there's not much support for Nvidia surround. But I did find two fixes that helped. Increase the surround resolution and if that failed, shut down the computer, unplug the two out of three monitors, and reboot the computer to force the resolution back to three 1920x1080 screens then I was able to open the Nvidia Control Panel and re-enable surround when I was ready to go back.

    Well, it happened again, not too long ago. Whatever that's fine. I change the resolution in the Win10 display settings, double click my Nvidia Control Panel...and nothing. Awesome, now I have to contort myself to access the back panel of my computer...great. So I shut down the computer, disconnected the samsung and the hp, booted up the computer, right clicked the desktop aand nothing again. Nvidia wasn't there. I double clicked the shortcut and sure enough it crashed (and same when I tried to open it via Control Panel too). I opened the win10 display settings and it told me that there were two displays connected, the element and the samsung. Nothing on google that I found could tell me why my computer was reading a monitor that was no longer plugged in…or maybe I just don't know good keywords to use.

    I should probably mention also that everything worked just fine for years until a windows update from a few months back crashed my entire PC and I had to reinstall everything. Ever since then, my PC's been real buggy.

    Also, I have a NVIDIA GeForce FTX 750 Ti

    Hi Ron,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    • What changes did you make in the BIOS? As making the changes in the BIOS is only recommended by Microsoft if done by the manufacturer.
    • How are you connecting to the 2nd monitor?

    Windows seeing 2 monitors as 1 monitor.

    Hi there,

    When I started my PC today Windows spread the screen you would normally see on 1 monitor onto 2 monitors. This caused me to have a wide screen. This looks really weird. Is there a way to fix this problem so I see 1 monitor screen on one monitor instead of

    So, I'm using this program called aster which lets you turn your one computer into 2. For some reason this program doesn't allow you to have 2 monitors on one workplace. Is there a way to list 2 monitors as 1?
