I can't get any more updates through my Windows insider program

No new Windows Insider Builds or updates for Windows 10 build 17063 were released this week.

I recommend you wait until the next build is released next week, then try updating to that release.

 

Trying to view neighbor's camera on my win 10 pc

Hi Craig, you need to open the port on your Firewall:

Navigate to Control Panel, System and Security and Windows Firewall

Select Advanced settings and highlight Inbound Rules in the left pane

Right click Inbound Rules and select New Rule

Add the port you need to open and click Next

Add the protocol (TCP or UDP) and the port number into the next window and click Next

Select Allow the connection in the next window and hit Next.

Select the network type as you see fit and click Next.

Name the rule something meaningful and click Finish.

 

Everyone thought the 5th August update (325MB Circa) was that but on Twitter Gabe said it was just a cumulative one. I await it.

 

Good stuff. May have to download the stand alone package for this one and put it on a flash drive.

 

The following are the 3 biggest issues I've seen since upgrading, compared to Win 8. This is on a laptop I use for work everyday.

1. Shutdown and Startup is slower.
2. Battery life is significantly shorter.
3. Wifi tends to drop in and out as I move through out the building.

But there are certainly features I like better about 10.

1. Start menu is much improved
2. Improved file explorer (quick access, pinned, recent)
3. Multiple Desktops!

 

Good news.. this should help out. I hope..

 

W10 has been running great on my PC without any issues. Might just wait with SR1 to see if there are any issues with it, before downloading.

 

I'm shocked that Microsoft is responding to bugs and improvements with a quick turnaround. Maybe this time they want to listen to their customers.

 

Your going to get it through Windows update, even if you don't download it. I'm downloading it for use on clean installs is all. If they update their ISO files, I'll go that route instead.

 

That sounds like a great plan.. I might do that as well.

I have my WiFI connection set to "metered" so updates won't download until I want them too.

Microsoft listening? You know that big "Office 2013 theme" thread in the MSDN forums? Hundreds of people complaining about the Office 2012 looks? I guess not. It's cool, not a single answer from MS. Just nothing.

 

It took a while, but Microsoft updated the Windows 8.1 ISO's to include the Nov Update. I can't not see them doing the same thing with Windows 10. I'm glad they went back to a more recognizable name for it too. They said no more service packs, and then just called them "Updates". Service Release sounds much better and more defines what it actually is. A group of updates. But it's not a Service Pack. *Wink
