Windows 10: Windows 10 > settings > orientation options disappear before cursor can select new setting

I'm running an updated Windows 10 system with an external display monitor. I routinely need to alter the external display from landscape to portrait. Attempting to do so, however, results in the orientation settings for the external display "disappearing" after about a half second, before I can select the correct setting. Numerous fast attempts must be made in order to successfully execute the change.


What could be causing the system to operate in this manner, which does not allow a user reasonable time to make a selection with the cursor and how can the problem be fixed?

There's an option on Windows 10 to switch between landscape and portrait orientation. We recommend following these steps on how to switch the screen orientation from portrait to landscape:

• On Cortana search, type display settings.
• Choose Display settings from the list.
• Under Orientation, select on Landscape and click
  Apply.
