Windows 10: Windows 10 Slideshow from folder containing pictures with shortcuts

Discus and support Windows 10 Slideshow from folder containing pictures with shortcuts in Windows 10 Ask Insider to solve the problem; I want to make a slideshow from a folder containing pictures.     Windows 10 Slideshow from folder containing pictures with shortcuts


    I want to make a slideshow from a folder containing pictures. I know how it works, but the slideshow won't play or recognize pictures with shortcuts. So the pictures are not actually in the folder but there are shortcuts to them. How can I make the slideshow play them?

    Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

    Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

    • I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.


    • Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.
    That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

    Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

    Select pictures from a folder for background slideshow

    In W7 we could select 10 pictures, in a folder containing 100 pictures, to use as our desktop background slideshow.

    How do we do this in W10?

    Pls and Tx.

    Windows 10 desktop slideshow not seeing sub folders!

    I just got the latest update and it broke the slideshow (again). This solution no longer works, it just brings up the Windows 10 dialog.

    I did find
    this     which worked for me, however :

    • Using explorer, while at the main folder which contains the subfolders, type this in the search box:

      type:image
    • Select All and from the right-click menu choose "Set as desktop background"
    I already had my settings for a slideshow of my pictures folder (showing the one picture that's there in the top level folder).
