  1. Windows 10 slow to change local user - about 20 seconds with a black screen

    Hi,

My wife has an Acer Laptop ( i7, 8Gb ram, 256ssd) and she shares it with my daughter.

Both have a local user for each profile.

The first login of each one is fine and takes the regular time.

The problem happens when they change the user to one that is already logged.

The screen to pick the user appears instantly, but once they choose the user and enter the PIN, there's a 20 second wait with a black screen until the desktop appears.

Tried cleaning caches, temp, trim SSD, removing files from both profiles and nothing helped.

Last try should be reset the Windows, but aim avoiding this at all cost.

Any idea is there's something to help?

    Thank you

  2. Black Screen Isuue in Window 10

    Hi kashish,

I would appreciate you for trying troubleshooting steps.

To understand the issue better, I request you to answer few questions:

    • Does black screen appear when you before user login’s or after user has logged in ?
    • Does black screen appears when you lock your pc?
This problem occurs because of a change in the behavior of Win Logon and Logon UI. This change introduces the potential for the deadlock.

I would also suggest you to install all the updates available for the system and check if it helps.

    Follow the Below steps:

    • Type settings in the Search area on the taskbar and select Settings
    • Select Update and Security.
    • Click on Windows Update and select Check for Updates

Keep us posted with the status of the issue. We’ll be glad to assist if you need further assistance.

    Thank you

  3. Change local user account name in Windows 10

    Hello!

I've just reinstalled Win10 and created a second account for my wife. Unfortunately, the login names is the mail she's registered to Microsoft.

How can I change the name.

I've read an answer to same question suggesting following:

    "

Follow the steps provided below to change the username and check.

    • Press Windows key + X key.
    • Click on Control Panel.
    • Under view, select large icons.
    • Go to User Account.
    • Click on Manage another account
    ...

    "

    I don't have that option in Win10.

    Thanks for assistance
