Windows 10 slows down by a lot when plugged into a monitor or power adapter.

This is really beginning to make me mad.

Today I did my usual tasks on my laptop, I have a second monitor I like to use. However today I decided to do some work in the kitchen while eating so I took the laptop there. When I came back and plugged the laptop back into power and the monitor Windows just slowed down dramaticlly.

    My laptop specs are:

    - GTX 1050

    - Intel core i5 9th gen 2.40 ghz, 4 cores 4 threads

    - 8 GB of RAM

I have no idea why this is happening, because this laptop ran Windows fine until that moment. I have tried running chkdsk /r I think thats the command, basiclly the one that checks for bad sectors, I have resterted my PC multiple times and ran sfc /scannow uninstalled some apps which I think are causing the issue and nothing. My PC lost 80% of its power. And, by the looks of it, all drivers are up to date in Device Manager. I don't know if its the monitor or the power causing this altough I did run the power troubleshooter

Does anyone know how I can fix this, I just want to use my laptop, I bought it 8 months ago and this is really a bummer. By the way this is a HP Pavilion 15 gaming laptop.

Huge thanks if someone can help me in advance,

    Grif

about plug-in or plug-out with AC adapter

I have done all of the above and when I plug my computer in with a fully charged battery the screen still goes black - I am on Windows 10 and my computer is 3 days old - HP Pavillion Laptop - I know there has got to be an easy answer for this Problem - Like
a setting somewhere, but I am used to using my computer plugged in at all times and I think that it is stupid that I have to take out the battery to do this??? Any more suggestions??? :-(

  3. Monitor is not working with DisplayPort to HDMI adapter

I have a HP EliteDisplay E222 and it is not able to recieve signals using a HDMI to DisplayPort adapter. I have tried plugging in the DisplayPort side of the adapter into my computer and into my graphics card and both of them give me no signal and that makes
me think it is the monitors issue. However, when I plug the current monitor I am using into the HDMI side of the adapter (when the DisplayPort side of the adapter is connected to my computer) I also get no signal.

I have confirmed that the adapter works on my other computer but I just can not find out why it is not working on my main one.

    I have tried:

    1. Letting windows pick graphic card drivers (RX 570)
    2. Installing the latest drivers
    3. Taking the power cable out of my second monitor for one minute
    4. Resetting the monitor
    5. Turning off the power saving setting in the monitor
    6. Turning power mode to high performance in Windows 10

Unfortunately my current monitor has no DisplayPort port. If it did, I could of connected the DisplayPort side of the adapter to it to determine if the graphic card is the problem or if the monitor is.

about plug-in or plug-out with AC adapter

    Hi Sanjeev,

I suggest that you run the Power troubleshooter and check. Follow the steps :

    • Click on Windows logo
    • Type Troubleshooting
    • Under System and Security Click Power usage
    • Let the troubleshooter run.
If the above method does not help resolve the issue, then try the below :

    • Click on Windows logo
    • Type Power Options.
    • Click Create a Power Plan
    • Create a new Power plan and check
