Windows 10: Windows 10 sound and video problems

I am unable to get sound or other media to play when I first boot up into Windows. If I restart the computer, it clears and everything works normally.


Details:

If I try to play an audio file it seems to load the file. The transport changes from Play to Pause so it thinks it's playing. But it doesn't move, no progress is indicated and no sound is heard. This happens whether it's in any website on any browser or in a range of desktop applications like Goldwave, Groove Music or Windows Media Player.


The only place audio works properly is in a DAW like Reaper.


On Facebook and Youtube I can't play videos. Again the video loads but never starts. I can toggle the Play and Pause buttons but nothing happens. In YouTube I get the message "if playback doesn't begin shortly try restarting your device"


If I restart the PC everything works normally.


This is a daily occurrence, quite consistent.


I've been through the Windows troubleshooting process for audio (which didn't show anything wrong), and reinstalled the drivers for my audio card (M-Audio Delta 2496)


Can anyone suggest what's up? I'll provide any info you need about the PC.

• Do you get any error message?
• In which browser are you facing this issue?
• What is the make and model of your computer?

Did you make any changes prior to the issue?

I suggest you to uninstall and re-install the Sound drivers check if it works for you.

Follow the steps to uninstall the Sound drivers:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand ‘Sound, Video and Game Controllers’.
• Right-click on the Audio devices listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.

Follow the steps to update the sound driver:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand ‘Sound, Video and Game Controllers’.
• Right-click on the Sound device listed and click on ‘Update Driver Software’.
• Select the option to automatically search for the updated driver software.
• Restart the computer after its updated and verify.

Restart the computer after its uninstalled. Try to access the device manufacturer's website and download and install the latest chipset and sound drivers.

• Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2
