Sound comes out of computer tower and speakers at the same time

    Hello all,

I have recently installed Windows 10 on my computer and whenever I watch a video or listen to music, the sound comes out from both the computer tower and the speakers at the same time. I would like to get the sound to stop coming out of the tower. I tried
activating and deactivating devices under "Audio inputs and outputs" and "sound, video and game controllers" in the device manager as well as under control panel --> change sound card settings ---> Playback/recording. None of this worked. Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

  3. Sound comes out of computer tower and speakers at the same time

    Hi Mark,

One of the possible reasons why the sound comes out of your computer and not in the tower is due to the audio output configuration. To resolve your issue, we suggest that you set your headset as your default playback device. You may also refer to the post
of Nortie found on this link.

Let us know how that turned out for you.

Sound comes out of computer tower and speakers at the same time

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for the update. Your computer could be recognizing the tower and speakers as a single entity. We can test this by following these steps:

    1) Within Cortana's search box, type "Sound" and click on the result. You should see something like this:

windows 10 sound coming thru tower; speakers have power 739b7a20-a4bb-451a-b587-05935087e949.png

    2) Here, click on "Configure" and then "Test". Please observe where the audio comes out from. If it comes out from the tower and the speakers, then this confirms our initial suspicion.

In this case, please click on "Properties" from the "Playback" tab, then go to "Levels" and click the
audio button in the "PC Beep" section as well as the "Front Black In" to mute them.

Once done, test the audio again. If the issue continues, the next best step is to update
all audio drivers. For instructions on dong so, please check this
    article.

Feel free to reply at any time.
