Windows 10: Windows 10 Sound device problem - sound devices got mixed up? + weird screeching in headphones

I am using a PREDATOR PH315-53, Windows 10A few minutes ago, something changed with my sound devices? It now always says "Speakers -3 High Definition Audio Device, no matter if I plug headphones in or nothing external. Earlier the device name would change to my headphones if plugged in, and the built-in speakers were something with Realtek from what I remember ? I see a lot of different sound devices there but that's what I remember, never looked into it before - hope it's not too vague? Either way, something is clearly wrong and I will share all info I can to solve it. I also checked my dev

You can try the following steps and check if this fixes the issue:



Method 1:

Make sure the headphone device is in turn off state:

1. Type sound on start menu search and press enter key.
2. Here under Playback devices. Right click on empty space of sound setting Window, click on Show disabled devices.
3. Check if the device is present in the list.
4. Right click on the headphone device and click enable.

Method 2:

Run the audio troubleshooter:

1. Type audio troubleshooter on start menu search.
2. Select Find and fix audio playback problem from the list of results.
3. Select Next.

Method 3:

Uninstall the Sound card drivers:

1. Type Device Manager on the start menu search and press enter key.
2. Search for the Sound driver from the device list, right click on it and then select Uninstall.
   
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and the restart the computer if prompted.

No Sound Through Headphones


Hello! I've already read through many of the similar questions on this forum, however none of the solutions seem to work.
Sound comes through perfectly fine on my laptop's built-in speakers. However, when plugging my headphones into the 3.5mm headset jack, there is no sound whatsoever. The system recognizes that my headset is plugged in. In fact, the microphone on my headset functions perfectly when plugged in, but the headphones themselves are outputting no sound.
I tested the headphones on other computers and devices, and they work.
In Device Manager, the device is listed as "Realtek High Definition Audio". However, the only sound device listed in Control Panel is "DTS Audio Control Panel".
I've tried uninstalling the audio device from Device Manager, and then reinstalling the driver from Realtek's website.
However, this is met with the exact same results... no sound through the headphones, and "DTS Audio Manager" is installed in the Control Panel instead of Realtek HD Audio Manager.
If I navigate to Control Panel -> Sound -> Playback, "Headphones" is not listed as a device. Instead, Speakers/Headphones is listen as the sole device.
Also, I ran DirectX Diagnostic Tool, and it returned absolutely no errors.
I have posted screenshots and a few of my system specifications just in case.

I understand your concern and would suggest you to check with any other headphones to make sure there is no issues with headphones.

I would also suggest you to update the Sound drivers and check if that helps. Here is the steps:

• Press “Windows + X” and select Device manger.
• Locate the sound driver and expand the driver icon.
• Right click on the driver icon and click on Update.
