Windows 10: Windows 10 speech-to-text and updating pre-defined fields in a Microsoft Word document

Using Microsoft Windows 10 speech-to-text, how do you update a Microsoft Word document with pre-defined fields? For example, we have a form with 10 fields, such as the person’s name, address, telephone number, etc. Using speech-to-text, how does the speaker ensure that the information is recorded in a particular field in the document? For example, if the first field in the document is first name and that field is numbered 1, does the speaker say, “go to field name: first name” and then speak Mary, for example? Or does the speaker indicate, "go to field 1" the first name field? D

The issue you are facing could be due to the incorrect way. Let’s try simple steps and check if it helps in resolving the issue. I would suggest you to open the Word document and try to dictate in Speech Recognition and check.

Unable to enter text directly into a Word document with Speech Recognition in Windows 10

I have used Speech Recognition successfully in the past to create Word documents while running Win 8.1. Now that I have upgraded my laptop to Win 10, text that I dictate in Speech Recognition no longer is entered directly into my Word document. Instead
it is entered into what appears to be a small text box - which only holds a few words. I then have to transfer the text in the box to my Word document. If I wait too long to do this, I exceed the capacity of the text box and I lose text when I make the transfer.

This is an exceedingly cumbersome process - which makes Speech Recognition virtually useless for creating Word documents.

What has happened in Win 10 to cause this to happen - and how do I get back to direct entry into my Word documents, as I had previously in Win 8.1?

I understand that you are unable to use Speech to Text option in Word document on your computer. I’ll help you with this.



However, please let us know:

• Are you able to use the Speech Recognition feature in any other application such as notepad or WordPad?
  
• Are you using an external microphone or an internal microphone? If you are using an external microphone, what is make and model of the microphone?
  
  
• What is the make and model of the computer?
  

If you are unable to use the Speech Recognition feature in any other application, I would suggest you to refer the steps mentioned in the section
