Windows 10: Windows 10 start button and search box not seize intermittently

Hello,


I have received a replaced laptop with Windows 10 64-Bit and the same issues i reported on the first new system that necessitated the replacement still occur on the new system.


The Start Button and the Search box on the task bar became locked. When I mouse over the Start button the button changes colour and when I click on the button nothing happens.


When I right-click on the Start Button to shutdown/restart, the system remain on restart for the whole day until I had to press and hold on to the power button to power off.


This was the reason i returned the first system about 8 days ago after I have done several reboot and reset the system to factory setting but nothing changes. So the new system was replaced yesterday.


The new system is also having the start menu and search box locking intermittently. Please I need help to get this resolved or how many times will I have to return the system.


Will appreciate solutions here.

To turn off windows updates in windows 7 follow these steps:

Click the start button, in the search box type in 'windows updates', click on 'windows update'
in the search results list, in the left side of the windows update window click 'change settings'
then in the option bar select 'Never check for updates'.

  Right click on the task bar.

  Go to Cortana.

  Click on show search box.
  

Now check if you are able to find search box.

To understand the issue better, let me know if you get any error message while accessing Start Button and
Search Box?

This issue could have occurred due to corrupt System Files.



I suggest you to try the following steps which will help to fix corrupt System Files.



a. Open the Task manager by pressing CTRL+Shift+ESC.


b. Click File and click Run New Task.

c. Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”.

d. Type CMD.

e. Type the following 4 commands at the CMD prompt:

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

sfc /scannow

powershell

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}


f. Close the CMD Window.
