Windows 10: Windows 10 Start Menu/Personalization bug for over a year now. Custom time setting being...

So I have paid for the Pro version and what a regret this is. Not only am I BLOATED with ads and bloatware. Plus numerous apps that I am not allowed to uninstall. The OS simply ignores my settings.

A quick recap:


This bug is related to Start Menu and changing system time or time zone.


This bug completely breaks customization ability of Start Menu. Start Menu doesn't save any changes you make. If we try to add/remove icons in the left-side toolbar, it doesn't work. If we try to pin/unpin tiles to Start Menu, it doesn't work and so on.


This bug appears on clean installation of Windows 10. To reproduce this bug, do a fresh Windows 10 installation. If possible, disconnect your machine from Internet. After installation, change the system time or time zone using Settings app.


Easy to duplicate and has been reported for well over a year... I keep having issues with this bug and still NOTHING! But hey! I can get forced updates that add "features" I don't want or need, but they do break even more stuff! Great job Microsoft. Great OS!


This is important because of this issue I am forced to change the date which exposes another bug... Don't worry about why I need to change my Timezone, I do have to. The bug above is locked on you after you change your timezone 1 time. Even when Windows 10 decided to revert my timezone/date change this issue still persists and now I am unable to customize anything with the Start menu. No amount of reboots fix this issue. The only fix is to change your time to a future date (just to have Windows revert that change when it wants)


When I do have to change my time to work-a-round this bug, Windows decided it wants to ignore my settings and change them to what it wants to do. This makes me question the trust I have for the OS which is already very little, < 15 out of 100. Windows 10 is a garbage OS no one likes but we are forced into it and Microsoft acts like we all love it... Yes, we love an OS that data mines it's users and scans your networks like malware. When I saw what Microsoft collected I deleted it all from my account and re-installed the OS and setup an account in offline mode. Data collection is still disgusting but it's better... but I digress.


To duplicate this, simple change your timezone which triggers the previous bug, then wait about 2~5 mins and then Windows will undo your Set time automatically from off to on. How may other settings are being blatantly ignored? This OS is utter garbage and is WAY TOO INVASIVE FOR AN OS! Fix your crappy OS and if I pay over $200 I expect NO ADS AND BLOATWARE. I expect to be able to remove the bloatware and unwanted apps that Microsoft installs.


As someone who has been in development for over 20 years, this is a disgusting way that Microsoft went with the OS and I am slowing moving away from this OS. The ONLY reason I even have it is for gaming and one project. After this project, it's just not worth the invasion of privacy or data collection (just watch it on your home network, it is boarderline spyware). Windows 7 was a great OS. I reluctantly updated due to EOL and have regretted it ever since.


Either way, fix your bugs. This has been reported for over a year (actually since Beta). There is no excuse for the neglect on this.

I hope to see a class-action about the data collection in the future. You should be paying me for the data mining you are doing. Not me paying you to do it.. what a scam OS.

Start Menu - Missing Customization Menu / Personalize


I hope this hasn't been already asked. I'm trying to get my "Start Menu" to look similar to the below right image. I've read tutorials and I simply do not have or can not find the "Customize Start Menu" dialogue box. I am currently running the final release of Windows 10 Enterprise x64. Any help would be incredible!!
