Windows 10: Windows 10 Start Menu Troubles

I have several PCs that I have setup that the Start menu stops working. 8 out of the last 10 have had this issue. It happens on prebuilt PCs, and on custom built PCs. On the current machine the Start menu was working fine, then I installed Office 2016. After installation I went to click on Start so I could pin those apps to the taskbar, but Start didn't work. I've tried all the fixes I can find online: create a new profile; sfc; dism; registry changes; checking for updates; updating drivers; restarting Windows Explorer; Microsoft Start menu troubleshooter; reinstalling Cortana; etc. The only thing I can get to work is "Reset This PC". This is not acceptable. I cannot reset the PC and reinstall the apps every week. Microsoft needs to fix this, or replace my Win10 with Win7.


Does anyone have any other ideas on how to fix this? The current machine is brand new, running Windows 10 Pro 64bit v.1803. The only third party programs I have installed are Google Chrome, Adobe Reader, and Office 2016. The issue occurred after installing Office 2016.

yeah I've been less than happy with the start menu also.
for me I for me I get freezes in start menu, especialy returning from sleep...which reminds me sleep is such a pain in the butt since I switch to Windows 10. Either waking up on its own, or system freezes when recovering from sleep

Stardock was a nice switch from vanilla, but i wasnt gonna buy it and 30 days goes by quick.
