Windows 10: Windows 10 Start Up Issue - 0x800f0845

I have an issue where Windows is not starting up correctly and I am getting an error message and code 0x800f0845 with Windows update KB5010342. I have to go through advanced troubleshooting to get Windows to load every time the PC is re-started, and the update is failing to install. I have tried to troubleshoot using other posts and resources available in the community, but nothing has worked. I would very much appreciate help or suggestions.I have Windows 10 home version 21H2. OS build 19044.1387, Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920.0.

Steps to correct please

 

Windows Start issue

Try this:

Right click on your start menu, and click on System:





When the system window comes up, click on Advanced System Settings:




There, click on Startup and Recovery:




Then in the top menu you will have a choice of OSs. Select the one you want to boot to defaultly and uncheck the box for "Time to display list of operating systems."




That should make it boot into Windows 10 without your intervention.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
