Windows 10: Windows 10 start up sound works speakers do not

Big start up sound and once booted the speakers never work again. The headphones work fine. Troubleshooter can't find a problem. I suppose that something is loaded after the chime that is causing this. What audio control is loaded after the chime?

Did all this per microsoft reco to no avail

1.Check your speaker output
2. Run the audio troubleshooter
3. Verify that all Windows Updates are installed
4. Check your cables, plugs, jacks, volume, speaker, and headphone connections
5. Check sound settings
6. Fix your audio drivers
7. Set your audio device as the default device
8. Turn off audio enhancements
9. Restart Audio Services
10. Try different audio formats
11. Restart to apply installed updates

12. Check for IDT High Definition Audio CODEC in Device Manager

I suggest you try the steps listed below and check if it works. This issue could be because of the Headphones BT SPEAKER Stereo being set as default. I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works.

• Pair the speaker with your PC.
  
• Right click the Windows icon on the taskbar and choose
  Device Manager.
  
• Expand Sound, video, and game controllers
  and right click on your Bluetooth speaker (BT SPEAKER Stereo).
  
• Choose Disable and acknowledge the confirmation popup. Wait for the screen to refresh.
  
• Right click on the same device again and Enable.
  
• Exit Device Manager and see if the issue persist.
