Windows 10: windows 10 startup delay & wallpaper disappear when i refresh

My PC has all necessary hardware configuration with OS update.

For last few days, I have been observing that taking a long time to load OS & if I refresh the desktop by pressing F5 or from the menu the desktop wallpaper disappear & again if I refresh the desktop it appears as it was.


It may be mention here that, for some days my windows defender software was not working fine earlier it was OK, for that, I have immediately installed antivirus software (Avast ) with latest updates.


Please help me to resolve the problems

Windows 10: Desktop Wallpaper Disappears on Startup. Nothing sticks, not even default Windows themes

I've scoured the Internet for solutions and have found similar problems, but nothing exactly like what I'm experiencing.

Ever since upgrading to Windows 10 from 7, my wallpaper disappears on startup. Not immediately on startup, but after 30 seconds or so after startup. Nothing sticks, not even default Windows themes. It goes away and is replaced with a plain black wallpaper.

I'm not sure what other info is needed for someone to help, it really is as simple as that.

Windows 10 startup screen delay and constant refreshes

I have just recently upgraded my Dell Inspiron laptop from a Windows 7 operating system to a windows 10 through the free upgrade. However, Whenever I decide to power up my laptop it proceeds to a black screen and plays the windows 7 startup chime. The only
way I can get past this is to lower the screen and quickly open it for the windows 10 sign in screen appears.

When I sign in, everything is running smoothly until the screen would randomly refresh about twice per minute. I open the task manager and after a refresh I noticed that the CPU usage seemed to be too high and quickly goes back down only to repeat itself,
the CPU can go from 1% usage to 50% usage without any apps open.

I took note of the processes that took the most usage right after a refresh.

• Windows Explorer
• Windows shell experience host
• System and compressed memory
• appmodel(2)
• Runtime broker
• cortana
• Antimalware service Executable
• from microsoft background task host

and as well as some processes that lead back to
svchost.exe

this gives me the belief that svchost has something to do with these constant refreshes, startup delay and windows 7 startup sound because apparently there is a virus that hides under the name "svchost.exe".

After booting into safemode I noticed that the startup screen was much faster and did not create the windows 7 start up noise. however, I still fall victim for the constant annoying refreshes and high CPU usage and along with a message telling me that "This
app can't open" This is probabbly referring to the disapearance of the Widnows store from my taskbar and start menu and probabbly after typing into the powershell: Get-AppXPackage
-AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

I got this from a user who had similar issues. After the powershell was finished with whatever I just commanded it to do, all I got were red blocks of text which read something about errors.

Before I finish, I should note that before I upgraded to windows 10 and before I accidentaly deleted my OS, and before I made tons of factory resets to combat an issue, and reformatting, etc... I ran diagnostics and found out that the hard drive was in a
"critical condition" and read as a failure.

After running diagnostics today The results were the same and hard drive testing was still a failure. here is what it read

**hard drive 0** - DST short test**

Test results: Fail

Error Code: 2000-0142

validation 21116

Msg: Hard drive 0- S/N S2TDJB0C128556, self test unsuccessful. Status = 7

Error code 2000-0142 is apparently a dell error code for a hard drive failure or a hard disk corruption.

what could be the main source of all of these problems? i believe that the hard drive is the root cause of all the problems this laptop is experiencing and if I am right, what are my options to fix this laptop?
