Windows 10: Windows 10 startup issue

Today I upgraded Norton to driver update and it updated 16 drivers. The screen sort of froze when calendar reminder came up which I couldn't close. I couldn't maximise anything I had open. Eventually I had to resort to control alt delete to reboot. Now, turn on, get windows sign in with full colour wallpaper, enter password then black screen with just a white mouse that responds to movement only. Cannot go any further. Please help me?

I'm not sure how to do that. Could you list the steps for a noob?

I understand your concern and would suggest you to try performing "Startup Repair" and check if that helps. Here is the steps:

• Press and hold Shift key and click on Restart from login screen.
• Click on Troubleshoot.
• Select Advanced Options.
• Select Startup Repair and follow the on screen instructions.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
