I recently had a problem with Sticky Notes. The app icon disappeared from the Task Bar, and when clicking the tile on the Start screen, the app logo and splash screen appeared, then vanished. I could access Sticky Notes from the web and other PCs, but not the Surface Go.


I went through the App page in Settings, Terminated, Repaired, Reset and Uninstalled with no change. While I had it uninstalled, I switched off Tablet Mode (I keep it there SOP) and returned to Desktop Mode to do run other Win32 apps. When I rebooted, the Sticky Notes icon was back on the Task Bar. I clicked on it, was able to log in, and boom it worked. (TIP: Turn off Tablet Mode when trouble shooting Sticky Notes.)


Once it was running correctly, I toggled back to Tablet Mode. Sticky Notes worked, but both the notes list and individual notes were full screen. This is both jarring and counterproductive to the purpose of Sticky Notes.


Suggestion:

1. Modify the Sticky Notes UI to permit "floating" above other windows in Tablet Mode.

2. In the alternative, label and notify users that Sticky Notes is designed for Desktop Mode.

• Did you make any changes on the computer before you encountered this issue?

Sticky notes may have encountered a system file corruption that caused this. We suggest that you run the

Windows app troubleshooter for this issue. Meanwhile, we also recommend that you reset your Sticky Notes app by following the steps below:

• Click the Windows icon and click Settings.
• Click System, and then click Apps & features on the left menu.
• Click on Sticky Notes on the list found on your right menu, click
  Advanced options link, and click the Reset button.
• Click the Reset button again when you see the confirmation dialog to reset Sticky Notes app.
• Close the Settings window and check your Sticky Notes app.

• Right-click (or press and hold) the Start button, then select Command Prompt (Admin)
• Enter sfc /scannow (note the space between "sfc" and "/").
