Windows 10: Windows 10 stuck at 1709

Hi,


I'm having an issue with a desktop stuck in 1709. Any further feature update simply won't install, without throwing any visible error.





I've tried different things already:

1. windows update "reset" workaround stop service, renaming files, restarting service

2. reset from recovery setting with and without keeping files

3. update with the windows update assistant

4. re-install with an USB key


1 had no effect

2 seems to work, everything is reset but it then detects a bunch of updates and fails to install the last listed below





3 seems to work fine until the pc reboots and block on the black screen with windows logo. Nothing happens, I let it run for hours.


4 basically starts at the black screen with windows logo with same result.


Only once with solution 4 did I get an error reported: 0xC1900101 - 0x20017. I checked possible reasons for this one and the only one that could apply is the driver. I find this surprising as 1709 runs fine but... There's no error in device manager, and all main drivers network, gpu,... are up-to-date.


I'm running out of ideas, I hope someone can point me to relevant logs or solutions to try to figure this out...

Creative X-Fi Soundcards and Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 1709 = Complete Disaster / Not Working

Thank you for trying to help , i did tried your suggestion but it did not work :/ , nothing seems to make it work on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 1709. In the meantime i have bought a new SoundBlasterX AE-5 and it did installed flawlessly , no problems whatsoever. it is up to Creative ( drivers ) and Microsoft ( bug fix ) to fix this huge bugs with Audio.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
