Windows 10: Windows 10 stuck on Build 10240 - Version 1.0 (2015 update)

Hey guys as you can read I have encountered a problem in which I can not update my Windows 10 PC. Before last year (2016) I stopped using my windows 10 PC and used my windows 8 pc. This year I switched back thinking Windows 10 would be less flimsy, but I was obviously wrong. Whenever I try to update windows it fails. I have done many things such as using windows update assistant, the media creator tool, and resetting my pc to a specific date however none of these worked. I was so frustrated that I decided to factory reset, and it still failed. Please help me out ASAP. Also Microsoft needs to get their act together with their updates.

use the key you need for the build and run those lines in cmd to activate

I suggest running those commands as administrator. Just in case.

Build 10240 - Any expiry on ACTIVATED versions??

I was going to do that for my benefit because of the way I have my partitions setup and to be legal with the EULA that isn't a step by step instruction. Right now I am waiting to see if build 10240 is actually the release build and yes I know at lot of people don't believe 10240 is the release version. I still may need to do that if build 10240 is not the release version.
