Windows 10: Windows 10 stucks only in reboot otherwise works

I installed windows 10 yesterday in Lenovo w550s


It works normal otherwise, power on and off works.


But when I select Restart .. it goes off then goes on .. Thinkpad logo appears and after that it just stucks with black screen with a keyboard cursor in top right corner.


It will stay like this forever, only option to get out of this is I press power button for few seconds, it will power off, then I press power button again to turn it On and it boots normally.


For trial, then installed ubuntu to confirm if there is not any hardware issue, ubuntu works fine, and restarts normally. All hardware checks done, unchecked "Turn on fast startup" in power , no help.


It is very annoying issue, if you can kindly help. I will be very thankful.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Stuck in Windows 10 Upgrade

My computer seems to be stuck in a Windows 10 failed upgrade loop. I was running fine on a beta version of Windows 10, and then I came downstairs one morning to see it repeatedly booting, attempting to repair, then rebooting. The steps I've taken to diagnose are:

• Attempting to boot off a USB drive (with all drives disabled in BIOS) - this fails at the point of the blue windows screen
  
• Attempting to boot the machine itself and getting into "repair/safe mode" using F7
  
• Looking at the BIOS for obvious failures (e.g. RAM that should be there is missing) - nothing obvious is wrong.
  

I am fairly certain the build version was 9926. For many months, the system would attempt to upgrade, and then say "it failed" for some reason and roll back.

Suggestions for next steps?
