Windows 10: Windows 10 suddently allowing usage of a lot more RAM causing the PageFile to inflate

I'm am playing a game that is in alpha at the moment, called Star Citizen! It used to work just fine and use only about 8GB of RAM, but since a few days ago, my computer started acting weird and putting all background applications into PageFile instead of RAM. I have a Committed size of Memory of 32GB, this is not normal. It usually isn't used at all. My total physical memory is 16GB. The game now uses around 20GB according to the Resource monitor. And it used to use about 8GB. Now my RAM usage is always at 90% or more when the game is running. I'm using two monitors and have some background a

Pagefile.. stuff.. Memory usage.. ??

The 1.5X theory is manual.... Thats if someone wants to make a specific size, that would be the best bet, as for task manager, the "page file usage" is total ram usage +pagefile usage(if the pagefile=0mb, it will count it as adding 0) So basically "Pagefile usage" would be better called "Physical/Virtual Memory Usage"

EDIT:

The windows pagefile is a thing on your harddrive, but the task manager refers to total memory usage (Physical & Virtual) As "paging file usage"

 

Unknown Constant RAM Usage

To explore more on RAM usage by processes and see in-depth I advise you to open the Resource monitor, please follow the below steps.

Step 1 :

Open Task Manager

Step 2:

Click on Performance

Step 3:

At the bottom click on Open Resource Monitor

Step 4:

Under Resource Monitor windows click on Memory

Step 5:

Click on Working Set to list the top process utilizing the more RAM and then evaluate RAM usage.

Clear Pagefile on Shutdown


I've been looking into clearing the pagefile, and I found the following steps at a somewhat dated webpage:

1. In the registry editor, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
2. Set ClearPageFileAtShutdown to the REG_DWORD value of 1.
3. Restart Windows.

I'm just wondering whether those steps are still valid, and, if so, does clearing the pagefile work as advertised?
